The King of Pop visits Starship Hospital

Michael Jackson

In November 1996 while on his ‘HIStory’ world tour, pop-star Michael Jackson took time out to visit Starship Hospital visiting children in their rooms.

Jackson’s visit to Starship Hospital lasted for hours and he moved from room to room greeting the children asking them how they were doing, posing for photographs and answering their questions before gifting them a toy and an autographed CD or photograph as mementos.

While some children were too young to understand the super-star status of their visitor, those who could were provided an experience they’d remember forever.

After the Starship visit Jackson was off to the airport to board a chartered plane.

While in New Zealand Jackson played two concerts at Ericsson Stadium on the 9th and 11th of November. The HIStory World Tour was the third and final worldwide solo concert tour by the American artist, covering Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania and North America.

The tour included a total of 83 concerts and was attended by approximately 4.5 million fans and spanned the globe with stops in 57 cities, 35 countries on five continents.
